Sunday 27th July

Next Sunday is World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. This special day in the Church Year was established by Pope Francis in 2021 and is celebrated each year on the Sunday closest to the Feastday of Saints Joachim and Anne, the Grandparents of Jesus.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Blessed are those who have not lost hope” (Sir 14:2).

On Sunday 27th July the National Grandparents Association Pilgrimage to Knock will take place, where the chief celebrant will be Archbishop Francis Duffy.

May Saints Joachim and Anne, parents of Mary,
Grandparents of Jesus, bless Grandparents and
the Elderly everywhere.
