Fifth Sunday of Easter - prayers of the faithful

Introduction (by the Presider) As the Church of Rome celebrates its new leader, let us bring our needs to our great and compassionate God:

  1. That Pope Leo the 14th may be blessed as his work as pope begins (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  2. That he and all the bishops may put fresh heart into us (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us..
  3. That our Church may always stand on the side of the poor (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  4. That the rights of workers may be protected (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  5. That migrants and refugees may be welcomed with love (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  6. That politicians may work for a better world (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.

The Presider prays for the dead: For the dead and for our own departed ones (especially N & N) that they may take their place in the new Jerusalem, where mourning and sadness will be no more (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider) Great and loving God, you are compassionate to all your creatures, help us according to your will, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
