Bidding Prayers
5th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Introduction(by the Presider):God calls us to be light for others through compassion and service. With hearts open to that call, we now bring our prayers before God our Father.
- For the Church: that she may be a light to the world and salt of the earth. Lord, hear us.
- For each of us: that we may respond to God’s call to share our bread with the hungry, welcome the homeless, and care for those in need. Lord, hear us.
- For young people:that they may walk in the light of Jesus, and have the courage to live their faith with integrity, compassion, and hope. Lord, hear us.
- For families: that they may be strengthened in love and faith, becoming places of light, generosity, and forgiveness. Lord, hear us.
- For peace in our world: that God may guide nations and leaders in the ways of justice and reconciliation. Lord, hear us.
- For those who suffer in body, mind or spirit: That they may feel God’s healing presence and find comfort and hope through the care of others. Lord, hear us.
The Presider prays for the dead: For those who have died (especially N & N): that they may be welcomed into the fullness of God’s light and peace. Lord, hear us.
Conclusion(by the Presider): Loving Father, you call us to live as children of the light. Hear the prayers we have offered in faith and grant them according to your will, through Christ our Lord.
