Bidding Prayers
Prayer of the Faithful for Sunday 1 February 2026
4th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Introduction(by the Presider):In today’s Gospel, Jesus shows us the way to true happiness. With confidence in God’s love and mercy, we now bring our prayers before the Father for the Church and for the world.
- For the Church: that she may faithfully live and proclaim the message of the Beatitudes, standing with the poor, those who hunger and thirst for what is right, and all who seek God with sincere hearts. Lord, hear us.
- For those who have dedicated their lives to God through consecrated life, especially those in our diocese: that they may be renewed in joy and faithfulness and continue to witness to the Beatitudes through lives of prayer and service. Lord, hear us.
- For vocations to the priesthood and religious life particularly in our own diocese:that young people may be drawn to lives of mercy, justice, and peace, and respond generously to God’s call. Lord, hear us.
- For those involved in music ministry: that God may bless them for their generosity, and that their ministry may continue to enrich our liturgical life. Lord, hear us.
- For peace in our world: that those who suffer from war, injustice, and division may know God’s protection, and that we may all become instruments of peace. Lord, hear us.
- For those who mourn: that they may be supported by our prayers and care, and find consolation in the compassion of God and the kindness of others. Lord, hear us.
The Presider prays for the dead: For those who have died (especially N & N): that they may rest in God’s peace and share forever in the joy of eternal life. Lord, hear us.
Conclusion(by the Presider): Loving Father, you know our needs and hear the cries of your people. Grant the prayers we have spoken in faith, through Christ our Lord.
