7.30pm, Wednesday 17th, December, Watergrasshill
The priests in our Family of Parishes will celebrate two Penitential Services for Christmas. On Tuesday evening, the 16th at 7.30pm in Springhill, Glanmire, and on Wednesday the 17th at 7.30pm in Watergrasshill.
What better way to prepare our hearts for the coming of the Lord than by availing of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Advent Penitential Services
At Mass we come together as individuals but it is as a community that we worship. In other words our celebration and participation at our weekend Mass is never a private thing. “It is the place for a vital encounter with the Risen Lord, the one who gives our lives ultimate, meaning and purpose. Our Eucharist particularly on a Saturday or Sunday continues to be a source of hope, life and profound meaning. In this sacred celebration, we have the opportunity to be transformed, to receive God’s grace, and to become the best versions of ourselves.” Those words from the Bishops statement this year on Why Sunday Matters, provide an opportunity for us to reflect as a Family of Parishes and we continue to work together in transforming and restructuring how we minister to one another.

On a weekend when heavy rain and winds had blown across his diocese, it seems more than coincidence that a new pastoral message from the Bishop of Cork and Ross should begin with a scripture quote: “Even the wind and the seas obey Him”.
Bishop Fintan Gavin read his message on Sunday to pilgrims attending the annual Mass at St. Finbarr’s Oratory, Gougane Barra.
Bishop Fintan’s message is a call to the people of the diocese to commit to a year-long time of prayer, listening and discernment about the future of the Catholic Church in the parishes and chaplaincies of the diocese.
In a time of unprecedented change in society and the Catholic Church in Ireland, people are understandably concerned about their parish’s future, he said.
